A Flexible Solution

SME can provide an all-inclusive solution but on occasions, we understand that our clients may want to choose which, if any, additional services they wish to include in their preferred solution. 

The only exception to this fully flexible solution is Insurance which arranged through SME or by customer.

Accident Management (Mandatory)

Accident Management is a standard inclusion in fully maintained operating rentals. Our Accident Management service provides support and effective services following a collision involving one of your vehicles. Our preferred Insurance partner, CGU, provides specialists in accident management who provide a 24/7 Accident Management service.

SME takes all the hassle and administration away after the accident providing expert assistance to drivers. We assist drivers from the moment after impact through to the return of the repaired vehicle, including all insurance claim management activity.

Excess is capped at $1,000 for drivers over 25 years of age and additional excess fees will apply for drivers under 25 years of age.

Maintenance & Repairs (Optional)

As part of a fully maintained rental/lease, the end user simply operates the vehicle and all maintenance and repair activities are coordinated at no additional cost. Repairs required outside the warranty period are also covered providing complete isolation to end user of any further costs. NOTE: Exceptions include driver mistreatment and insurance excess.

Fully qualified automotive technicians ensure manufacturer standards are maintained. The maintenance management program takes safety and reliability (in that order) as the primary inputs into decisions on cost-effective maintenance and repairs, to ensure the safety, productivity and reliability of the asset whilst on fleet.

Registration (Optional)

SME will manage payment of vehicle registration as and when it falls due or you can choose to manage this yourself. NOTE: SME will not take any responsibility for failure to keep vehicle registration up to date if not included as part of our Fleet solution.

National 24/7 Roadside Assist (Optional)

To ensure we support drivers when and wherever, all vehicles (Rental of Fleet) can include a comprehensive National Roadside Assistance program as a standard feature. The program is provided on a 24/7/365 basis and is consistent nationally.

Roadside Assistance includes 24/7 assistance for:

  • Flat tyres
  • Flat batteries
  • Emergency mechanical repairs
  • Towing to nearest repairer
  • Keys locked in vehicle
  • Emergency fuel

To access our Roadside Assistance program, drivers need only contact one number, any time of any day. Once we understand the nature of the vehicle failure, a mechanic will be dispatched, or tow truck, or whatever other service is appropriate to address the vehicle’s failure.

Fuel Cards (Optional)

Our service provides vehicles/drivers with a fuel card solution offering significant discounts over point of sale pricing. The fuel card(s) accommodate the fuel outlets available in the driver’s area, including remote regions. SME can provide fuel cards from the following providers including:


All fuel purchased is recorded with data centralised and invoices are consolidated, creating an administration-free solution that allows complete information access including automated exception reporting. Our fuel costing leverages our relationship with Telstra to obtain best marketplace pricing.

Fuel cards are managed on behalf of all vehicles/drivers, issuing cards directly after the delivery of new vehicles.

SME orders new fuel cards on the same day as vehicle registration is confirmed. Cards are forwarded to the driver or your nominated location on the same day they are received from the supplier

Tyre Replacement Management (Optional)

SME can arrange for someone to come to you at the time and place you nominate. Experienced and friendly fitters match tyres according to your requirements and budget then supply and change your tyres while you get on with whatever you’re doing.

Our solution includes onsite fitting, computerised balancing, new valves and weights and the recycling of your old tyres. Extra services such as onsite wheel alignment.

Toll Management (Optional)

SME can manage vehicles expected to be users of toll-roads via the E-Tag toll-road solution.

Where a vehicle with an assigned E-Tag has either a missing or a dysfunctional E-Tag, the vehicle will continue to be covered for toll road use under arrangements with all toll road operators nationally.

Vehicles expected to be infrequent users of toll-roads for business use the video tolling solution. This program allows vehicles to drive on all toll roads nationally. Vehicles will attract a nominal toll-road-operator administration cost of approximately $1 for each trip undertaken (in addition to the toll).
